1949 Harley-Davidson Hydra-Glide by Caveman1a 1949 Harley-Davidson Hydra-Glide by Caveman1a
The first year for the non-Springer front end and the second year for the Panhead engine which replaced the Knucklehead. This one is an FL which means that it is a 74 cid. (EL's are 61 cid.)

Note that the frame is still a hardtail frame. The hardtail frame was replaced in 1958 with the Duo-Glides. At that point, the motorcycles had shocks on both the front and rear.

The motorcycle is a tank-shift (hand shift) 4-speed with a foot clutch.

This motorcycle is at Uke’s Harley-Davidson in Kenosha, Wisc.

You don't need to retire from something. I know A LOT of people that restore and fix cars for a living. ;)

I used to have the Cars, but they got way too expensive to maintain them. ;)

I had: 1964 Corvette, 1975 Corvette, 1966 Chevelle, and I grew up in a Corvette family. In my family the years of Corvettes were: 1954, 1958, 1964, 1969, 1972, 1975, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1985 and a 1993. :)

I worked as a crew chief for a two-cars race team and I have built and rebuilt countless engines, racing engines, transmission, rearends, and have over 40 years of fiberglass experience. However...Motorcycles are SO much cheaper to buy, matinatn and operate! LOL :D

You can do what ever you want as a job...if you want to! :)

I did my first body-off frame restoration when I was about your age. ;)

Start hanging around your uncle and I'm sure that he will show you anything that you want to learn. ;) Us old guys are like that! :D

Yea i love all my uncles! I'm glad they like cars and Bikes. And thank you  for the info i will copy and paste it on my computer for future references.Wow you did your first body off frame restoration at my age! i don't even know if i told you my age or not...did?  i know it's just if I'm young especially a girl people are going to be sexiest about it and my uncles will beat em up! lol it's just some people are mean and ignorant like that.I just want an off job when i get older to live on till i die. Forget that i wanna be barried in a Chevelle. lol. I hand around them sometimes i just try not to be annoying or try to think i know everything when i talk to them about it lol...I just got finished watching The Barrett Jackson Auction.

Yes, you told me your age the other day. ;)

You have to let people around you know that you are interested in cars and motorcycles! They can't read your mind. ;)

Your Uncles will of course pick on you...always! That's how older people show affection! It doesn't matter what sex you are. You can do anything that you want, but you have to let other know so they can help you. ;)

I plan on being around for awhile if you have questions about motorcycles and cars.

If I don't know the answer...I will tell you that I don't know. ;)

A ok! I'm just now getting into Bikes. So could you tell me the parts and stuff? You don't have to say a lot i know a bit about cars. Its just i don't know how to build them yet unlike you at my age because i have never really opened the hood and looked into the parts thoroughly.
